Lone Star Championships 2009: Strictly Lindy Finals
Austin, Texas
Saturday, January 24th
I spent the weekend of Jan. 23rd - 25th in Austin, Texas for the second annual Lone Star Championships. This was my first real trip to Texas and so I was excited to dance with new people and see part of the country I've never really explored. I had signed up for the Jack and Jill competition and also the strictly lindy comp without a partner. The original plan was to possibly dance with my friend Chrissy from New York. When I noticed Chrissy wouldn't make it to Texas, I had to figure out a back-up plan.
Thankfully my friend Beth Hartzel was also at the event and agreed to give it a go. Beth and I had only danced together about 8 times after first meeting at Lindy Focus in Asheville a few weeks earlier. So we figured we'd just go out and have fun. The lack of pressure paid off because we made finals and proceeded to represent Nashville and DC well.
