Nocturnal Vibe by Doug Van Sant

Latin Lounge In SoHo
As our rainy weather continues, I find myself thankful I live in Tampa. While the gray skies and damp streets of Seattle appeal to some, I prefer the typical sunny days we find here along the Gulf Coast. But think of all those young pups from around the country that spent all those work-study dollars to travel to Florida for Spring Break. They've had a week to hit the beach, get a tan, drink some bread juice and return to their campus with the sun glowing from their cheeks. But unless they hit the fake and bake during these rainy afternoons, the only things they'll return with are slightly larger waistlines and stories of nightlife in the famous Ybor City. But lucky for us, the sun will shine again soon and our nocturnal pleasures continue.

So as I sit here writing about some of the hot little parties going down this weekend, most of my friends are in Miami. Not to take away from our little neck of the woods, but if you love dance music, Miami is blowing up right now. The annual Winter Music Conference is bringing the largest names in the business to discuss the industry, perform at Ultra and throw some of the best parties this side of the Atlantic. In fact, I have to give special mention to several Tampa products that are doing us proud this week in SoBe. Joshua Wilkins and the Paradise crew are throwing one of the hottest dayside parties as I type these words. Wilkins and friends rent a nifty party boat, throw down some smooth house music and party all day and evening on the water. And this Saturday, Tampa's DJ Santana and DJ Monk will grace the stage with names like Moby and Tiesto at the annual Ultra Music Fest at Bayside Park. So if a trip through alligator alley isn't in the works, feel good in knowing Tampa is well represented.

But enough of the social mumbo-jumbo, let's talk about parties. More importantly, let's talk about Bahasa Lounge in South Tampa. I got word of a weekly party every Thursday evening at Bahasa that is tearing up the local scene and spitting out lots of beautiful people on the last work night of the week. Latin World Ladies Night, presented by Latin Pop Promo is setting a new standard as the best Latin night in the Bay area. Blending the diverse sounds of Latin pop, rock, tropical, house, tribal, as well as salsa and meringue, it's obvious why this party bumps. In the main room, Pedro M kicks out world beats unlike any you've heard. In the blue room, Chino & Tony mix it up with smooth and sexy tribal and Latin house. On the patio, guests enjoy the visuals of VJ JC.

If music isn't enough to grab ya, ladies receive free entrance and free drinks until 1 a.m. And for those looking for other qualities of a hot party, high-end fashion is always on tap. Dolce, Armani, Ecko, and many other famous labels will be noticed walking through the door, so don't go light on style. For more info on this party, reservations, VIP tables or the guest list, contact Pedro at 813-839-4430 or Chino at 727-459-8445.
