If you live in DC, you probably have a pretty good idea who Thievery Corporation is. If you go out in DC, there is a good chance you've paid a visit to any number of clubs (18th St. Lounge, Local 16, Marvin, etc.) connected to the duo. That's because this widely popular band/DJ group was founded by Rob Garza and Eric Hilton right here in our great city at the lounge that shares the name of their record label ESL Recordings. And like most bands on tour, Thievery spends an extra few days of their tour in their hometown performing for their most beloved fans. I was lucky enough to spend two nights shooting photos of these amazing artists. Enjoy...
Lima Lounge has always been one of the more well designed clubs in DC. But recently Lima added a new night to their agenda that made this District lounge one of the better stops on the nocturnal rotation. For the Love of Haus opens the doors of Lima to some of the areas best house music DJs. The inaugural party featured Jason Greene, Jimi Wes and Manifesto on the decks. I was there to capture the sights as these three DJs dropped some seriously amazing deep house.
DC Nightlife got a recent addition to the family with the opening of Recess Lounge on 15th Street. Recess joins the W Hotel and a long list of other nightclubs and lounges that now call downtown DC home. And lucky for me, I was able to capture images inside the new lounge during their soft opening. The venue is a joint project by Brandon Howard and Fisayo Esconsay who are dedicated to bringing something different to DC nightlife. The two believe a good party is all about the music and have developed a club that could pass for a giant sound studio. Big-name DJs, seriously high design and an amazing staff made photographing this club easy.
